The MINI Cooper S Clubman came with a 6-speed manual in the US for 2 generations: the R55 and the F54. This guide covers 6 model years, with sold prices from Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids for that exact year, trim and gearbox. We give a range only where we found at least 3 matching sales. A single sale is one car on one day, not a market value.
Why consider a manual Cooper S Clubman?
It is a turbo MINI with more room behind the front seats and rear barn doors, and a 6-speed manual was offered on it in the US through the 2019 model year. The EPA lists a 6-speed manual Cooper S Clubman for 2009 to 2014 and 2016 to 2019. For 2020 it lists only automatics (2020 listing). There was no 2015 Clubman in the EPA data.
R55 versus F54: what changed?
The R55 is a stretched version of the R56 hatchback. It has rear barn doors and a single "Club door" on the passenger side, according to the Cars and Bids listing for a 2009 car. The F54 that replaced it is a larger car with 4 side doors plus the barn doors (2016 listing). Both are front-wheel drive as standard. The F54 added an ALL4 all-wheel-drive version with a manual for 2017 to 2019, per the EPA.

Manual gearbox and engine differences
Every car above has a 6-speed manual. The engine is what changes. The 2009 and 2010 R55 use the 1.6-liter N14, the 2011 to 2014 R55 use the 1.6-liter N18 with 9 more horsepower, and the F54 uses a 2.0-liter turbo four with more torque. Two of the low-mileage cars we found listed as "Cooper S Clubman" without "6-speed" in the title were automatics. Read the gearbox line on every listing.
Recall and service history checks
- Run the full VIN at NHTSA recall lookup. On an R55, ask for the repair order showing the turbo coolant pump work under 12V-008 or 18V-248.
- In a salt-belt state, ask whether 23V-337 was done on any 2008 to 2014 Clubman.
- On a 2016 or 2017 F54, ask for proof of the airbag recalls.
- Ask for oil change records with dates and mileage.
What to inspect before buying
- On an N14 car, listen to a cold start for a few seconds of chain rattle. Our R56 timing chain guide explains what it means.
- Check the clutch take-up and that the car pulls cleanly in every gear on a test drive.
- Pay for an independent pre-purchase inspection at a shop that knows MINIs, including a scan for stored fault codes and a look for oil and coolant leaks.
- Check for accident repairs. Several of the Cars and Bids sales above disclosed accident or paint repairs in the listing.
Which Clubman fits your priorities?
- Smallest car and lowest price: a 2009 or 2010 R55. Every sale we found for these 2 years was under $8,000.
- R55 with the later engine: a 2011 or 2012. 2011 has the most sales to compare.
- Rear-seat access and long trips: an F54. It has 4 side doors and more interior space.
- Snow: a 2017 to 2019 Cooper S Clubman ALL4 with the manual.
How we picked
We started with 6 model years and checked each against the EPA's fueleconomy.gov listings for a factory 6-speed manual Cooper S Clubman. We swapped 2013 for 2011 because 2011 had 6 manual sales and 2013 had 1. We then read completed sales on Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids for the exact year, trim and gearbox, and left out automatics, John Cooper Works cars and base Cooper models. Recalls come from NHTSA's recall data. Before you buy, run the VIN, get an independent inspection and ask for service records.
