Prices checked October 2026.

A good wagon carries a weekend's gear and still feels right on a back road. These 6 run from a small MINI to an all-wheel-drive BMW. The prices come from completed auction sales we opened on Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids. We give a range only where we found at least 3 sales of the same year and trim. Each sale is one car on one day, so treat it as a starting point, not a value.

2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen SE

Price check: we found no 2015 SportWagen SE sold on Bring a Trailer or Cars and Bids in the past year. The closest result was a 2015 SportWagen S with a 5-speed manual and 101,800 miles. It sold on Cars and Bids for $8,600 in October 2026.

The gas SportWagen uses a 1.8-liter turbocharged four, offered with a manual or an automatic. The 2015 SportWagen was also sold as a TDI diesel, so check which engine you are looking at.

  • Check the suction jet pump recall. Volkswagen's bulletin lists 2015 to 2019 Golf SportWagens. A seal inside the fuel tank's suction jet pump can fail and let fuel leak from the charcoal canister. Run the VIN to confirm the new pump went in. Volkswagen recall bulletin.

2013 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen S

Price check: we found no gas 2013 Jetta SportWagen sold on Bring a Trailer or Cars and Bids. Every 2013 sale we found there was a TDI diesel. Judge the gas cars on condition and records.

The gas 2013 Jetta SportWagen uses a 2.5-liter five-cylinder, with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

  • Check the valve cover. The 2.5-liter's PCV valve is built into the valve cover, and a failing valve can bring on a check engine light and a rough idle. Humble Mechanic on the 2.5L PCV valve.
  • Check the airbag recall. NHTSA recall 16V-078 lists 2010 to 2014 Jetta SportWagens for a driver airbag inflator that can rupture. NHTSA recall notice.

2011 MINI Cooper S Clubman

Price check: Bring a Trailer sold 4 Cooper S Clubmans from 2011 between March 2025 and October 2026, for $7,500 to $12,300. The top sale was a 6-speed with 63,000 miles. The lowest was an automatic with 78,000 miles. The other 2 were 6-speeds that sold for $8,211 and $9,700.

The 2011 Cooper S uses the turbocharged 1.6-liter N18 engine, which MINI fitted to the Cooper S from 2011 to 2013.

  • Look under the engine for oil. A MINI service bulletin covers R55 Clubmans with the N18 engine: the oil pump volume control solenoid can lose its internal seal and leak oil. If oil has reached the wiring, the fix can include the engine harness and the engine computer. MINI service bulletin.
  • Check the footwell module recall. NHTSA recall 23V-337 covers 2008 to 2014 Clubman Cooper S cars sold or ever registered in 29 states and Washington, D.C., all named in the recall. The module in the driver's footwell can corrode from water and salt and short-circuit. NHTSA recall notice.

2012 BMW 328i xDrive Sports Wagon

Price check: Bring a Trailer sold 3 unmodified 328i xDrive Sports Wagons from 2012 between October 2025 and July 2026, for $16,500 to $18,250. They were an automatic with 89,000 miles, an automatic M Sport with 85,000 miles and a 6-speed manual with 73,000 miles. A modified 6-speed car brought $32,501 in April 2026.

The 328i uses BMW's 3.0-liter N52 inline six, or the N51, a lower-emissions version sold in some states.

  • Look for oil at the front of the engine. FCP Euro calls oil filter housing gasket leaks on the N52 extremely common. FCP Euro oil filter housing guide.
  • Check the PCV heater recall. NHTSA recall 22V-119 covers 2006 to 2012 3 Series wagons, including the 328i xDrive. The PCV valve heater can short-circuit and overheat. NHTSA recall notice.

2015 Volvo V60 T5 AWD

Price check: Cars and Bids sold 2 V60 T5 AWD Premier Plus wagons from 2015 this year. One with 58,800 miles sold for $11,550 in January 2026. One with 149,900 miles sold for $7,750 in August 2026.

The 2015 V60 AWD uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic. Front-drive 2015 V60s use a 2.0-liter turbo four instead, so check the badge and the drivetrain.

  • Check the door latch recall. NHTSA recall 19V-849 covers 2011 to 2017 V60s. A part inside the door latches can break, so a door may seem shut when it is not latched. The fix is 4 new latches. NHTSA recall notice.

2008 Saab 9-3 Aero SportCombi

Price check: one 2008 Aero SportCombi automatic with about 99,000 miles sold on Cars and Bids for $6,100 in March 2026, then sold there again for $4,850 in July 2026. On Bring a Trailer, a 2008 Aero SportCombi automatic with 136,000 miles sold for $10,000 in February 2025, and an all-wheel-drive XWD 6-speed with 82,000 miles sold for $16,000 in June 2025.

The Aero uses a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6, with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

  • Check the airbag recall. NHTSA recall 16V-063 covers 2006 to 2011 Saab 9-3s for a driver airbag inflator that can rupture. NHTSA recall report.

How we picked

Each car here has a real cargo area and an engine or chassis worth driving. We checked completed auction results on Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids, NHTSA recall records, a MINI service bulletin and specialist repair guides. Before you buy, run the VIN for open recalls, get an independent inspection and ask for service records.
